Cash Bar???

A classmate has suggested a cash bar option for the reunion. I totally understand where they are coming from, it may not be fair for non-drinkers to foot the bill for drinkers. The one problem we run into is that the Clifty Inn does not serve any form of alcohol (though beer and wine service is being discussed) therefore it would have to be brought in and a bartender hired. That means that it would have to be purchased ahead of time with no guarantee that it would be bought back. A generous (as in highest dollar amount) estimate of $5 a person is what I forsee. I do understand that not everyone drinks, but I also understand that many, many people do. This cost would also include soft drinks which the Inn does not supply (they do serve tea, coffee and lemonade included in the meal price if we go with the buffet option). Paying $5 ahead of time, rather than $15 apiece or more at the party, seems more economical for the majority. I welcome further discussion and I appreciate your input, keep it coming.

I like the DJ idea as well as beer, wine, and liquor. I mean, we only have a ten year reunion once, right? Sometimes it's easier to mingle if there is more of a buffet style appetizer meal versus a sit down dinner. Plus, it may be more cost effective than a dinner??!

These are merely ideas... anything will be perfectly fine with me!

I think the beer and wine should be enough, I'm not picky. If anyone wants hard liquor, maybe they could just bring it with them and make their own drinks? I think the finger foods are a good idea too.
