Discussion.... Good!
I would just like to clarify some things that have been commented on that weren't exactly clear from my end. The Dinner at Clifty Inn is strictly buffet, there is not a "served at the table" option. What would need to be decided is what type of food would be served at the buffet. The choice is between hors d'ouevres (e.g. chicken wings, chips and dip, veggies trays, etc.) or a full meal (e.g. roast beef, chicken and all the fixings). From initial calculations it is not any more cost effective to serve hors d'oeuvres over dinner foods. I guess what I am getting at is: do you want to be fed? or do you just want to munch? I don't have a preference.
As far as the bartender, Brandi brings up a good point but I would need to research it more. My personal feeling is against cash bars, they are not welcoming and they always seem stingier than open bars.

If we want hard liquor there we'll have to hire someone with a 3-way catering license. If you just want beer and wine you can bring in your own kegs and wine and have someone that just has a bartending license. Obviously having hard liquor there makes it more expensive since you have to go the whole route of finding someone to come in and do the whole bartending thing and then of course you have to buy all your alcohol through them. I don't care either way, I'm a beer and wine girl myself but I know many are not so I was just offering what I knew of Clifty's policies on alcohol.

We had our wedding at Butler State Park and they didn't supply or serve liquor. We hired a couple of bartenders from the bartending school in Louisville. I didn't pay for it, but I don't believe they were terribly expensive.
