On a different note
Erica Dunagan pointed out to me that perhaps I should pay some respects to our fallen classmates. Those that come to mind are Matthew Lee and Robbie Sommers who passed away, at way too early an age, while we were still in school, and Jacob Kuntz who left us tragically in a car accident a few years back. While I was close to neither Matt nor Robbie, Jacob and I went all the way back to kindergarten at Southwestern Elementary school. He always seemed to be in my class and he was as adorable then as he was when he passed. My father also coached him in wrestling and he often traveled with us to away matches at an early age. My family- my mother and I especially- always referred to him as Jacob Ryan (his middle name) though I couldn't tell you why; maybe because using double names endears a person more. I lost touch with him after high school as many do (if memory serves, he joined the military) but I mourned his loss just as so many of us mourned the loss of all three. I do hope that I forgot no one who may have died, but if I did I am sorry. In closing, please feel free to post any tributes or memories for our classmates whom have passed.

hmmm, i have pretty fond memories of all three.... Robbie Sommers was the greatest basketball player in Jefferson County elementary school history (Sean Kimmel, Brent Cummins, and Barry Drake all tie for second), with nobody else on his Canaan squad, he would single-handedly beat our butts every year... Jake Kuntz was absolutely the most lovable guy in our class, and i will always remember those bon-fire parties Jake threw, we would destroy the corn field, and be partying again the next year... just like Jake, Matt Lee was always smiling, never had a bad thing to say about anyone. One all-star game i remember, Matt pitched us into an 8-0 hole, he held it together the rest of the way and ending up saving us with a grand slam of his own...
not the most compelling stories, but that's what i think about when those three cross my mind...
I don't know if anyone will remember her, but Adrienne Hall was our age and she and her parents and sister were all killed in a plane crash when we were 5 or 6 years old. I remember her from the North United Methodist Preschool, and I have no idea why I just thought of her again today. Does anyone else remember her? I also remember that Robbie & Matt were good-natured guys. I don't ever remember hearing a mean word out of Matt.

Two of my best memories of Jake were we used to sit on top of the parallel bars on the Southwestern playground and kid watch and i used to try and sneak his plastic comb out of his back pocket. i almost always got caught. We also called each other in 4th grade and talked about what we ate for dinner. What else do you have to talk about in 4th grade?? Jessica Harsin
